Creating Vibrant Designs: Using White Pigment Ink with Stencils on Colored Card Stock

Hi there, Sam here on the blog! ๐ŸŒŸ Have you tried the new(ish) trend of ink blending stencils over embossed images? It gives such a bold and vibrant look! Usually, ink blending is done over white card stock to keep the colors popping. But when I want to start with colored card stock, I have a nifty trick: first stencil with a layer of white pigment ink, then add color ink on top. ๐ŸŽจ

The Hot Air Balloons 3D Embossing Folder and Layering Stencils Bundle is perfect for this technique, especially with those fluffy white clouds.

If you want to recreate the card I made, you'll need the following products: Hot Air Balloons 3D Embossing Folder and Layering Stencils Bundle , Adventure Awaits Stamp Set and LDRS Hybrid Inks in Pink Tutu, Boysenberry Blast, Lipstick Jungle, Lantern Yellow, Olive Branch, Key Lime Pie, and Grape Ape.

  • Cut out a 4.75 x 3.5 in piece of light blue card stock.

Choose Inks: Select your preferred colors from the LDRS Hybrid Inks. I choose LDRS Hybrid Inks in Pink Tutu, Boysenberry Blast, Lipstick Jungle, Lantern Yellow, Olive Branch, Key Lime Pie, and Grape Ape.

  • Emboss: Align the blue card on the area you wish to emboss in the hot air balloon embossing folder. Emboss.

  • Ink Blending: Align the inking stencils (one at a time) over the embossed images and cover with white pigment ink. Either use heat tool to dry or wait for the white pigment ink to dry.

  • For each balloon cover with the lighter shade of ink and then add a darker shade towards the edge to create a colour gradient.

  • Assemble Card: Add the embossed and stencilled panel to an A2 card base.

  • Final Touch: Stamp, a sentiment from the Adventure Awaits Stamp Set
